BC Legislative raid subjects in court

Update: Dave Basi and his brother-in-law, Robert Virk will face corruption charges Nov. 28. They are accused of accepting benefits in relation to their positions in government, breach of trust of a public official and fraud in connection with the $1-billion sale of B.C. Rail.
The Crown has alleged that Basi and Virk put the bidding process for B.C. Rail at risk by leaking confidential government documents in the hope of securing federal government positions. A third accused, Aneal Basi, a cousin of Dave Basi and a former employee of the Transportation Ministry, is charged with accepting a bribe as a government official and breach of trust. Defence lawyers asked the judge to set a trial date for next year. ~ CNEWS Canada, June 22, 2005
