Chuck Cadman passed away today. He is survived by his wife, Dona, and daughter Jodi. Their son Jesse died at 16. In honour of a honest man and his family.

It is rare that you are elected in Canada as an independent. To do so you really need the support of the people you hope to represent. Mr. Cadman had that support. He was a man of integrity, honesty and a refreshing.

Mr Cadman will laid to rest on July 16, 2005, that also happens to be my birthday. A good man that loved his community and family.

Jack Layton, leader of the NDP had this to say in a statement release on Monday, July 11.

“Chuck Cadman’s political life began following the tragic loss of his son Jesse. He and his wife turned their personal suffering into a public campaign for the rights of victims of crime. Chuck Cadman’s life is a testament to how tragedy can spur work for positive change.

"He will be remembered in his community for his passionate dedication to strengthening our justice system to prevent further tragedies like that endured by his family."
